Our Story

In 1997, we began as a summer theatre camp experience (Summer Youth Musical Theatre Program) in Globe, Arizona. Every year, our founding team faithfully and enthusiastically produced musicals for the delight of our small town community. In 2016, we expanded to two productions a year, experimenting with more challenging shows like Beauty and the Beast and Les Miserables and Theory of Relativity

That same year, we set out to expand our theatre experience to younger elementary classrooms in Globe and Miami through drama-centered short workshops (School Outreach Program). We expanded our art workshops to be multidisciplinary and to reach new student populations, especially in San Carlos. Since then, we have served learning populations in every local public school in Globe-Miami-San Carlos, and many private schools and alternative schools as well, serving 1500+ students annually.

Starting 2018, we launched into our leadership initiatives, including Teen Mentors, who acted as student theatre directors, and Teen Teaching Artists, whose kindness and commitment to the kids continue to inspire us in our art workshops in the classroom. In 2024, we gathered a cohort of thirteen youth leaders (Leadership Lab) and mobilized them to design, direct and deliver monthly community events and roundtables for youth and children. In one school year, we reached roughly 1800 youth and 1000 adults through these events collectively. It is a testimony to what we can accomplish when creativity and connectedness combine.

“SYMTP provided me with a safe place and a group of great people that helped me grow into somebody much more daring than I would’ve been had I not joined six years ago. It planted a seed that was a love for art that grew into a full on passion.” -SYMTP Participant

“As parents, we’ve seen a huge change in our son. He’s come out of his shyness. He’s found a place where he belongs with friends who are like family. Thank you, SYMTP!” -SYMTP Parent

“SYMTP is all about oneness: choral singing as one voice, actors acting as one within a scene, and a bunch of kids coming together from all walks of life to create one show. And, at the end of the day, we are all one family.” -SYMTP Participant
